Futures Friday: Jayson Tatum can swipe the Eastern Conference ...

Futures give bettors great odds on events and series that haven’t happened yet. Futures Friday is a chance for a BetFTW writer to share their favorite futures bets to consider each week.

For leagues in the regular season, futures include bets on things like title winners, conference and division winners and even player awards like MVP and Rookie of the Year. Once the playoffs begin, series props come into play, like which teams will advance, how many games each series will go and more.

Below are the three futures to consider this week, with odds from DraftKings and BetMGM.

Vegas was unable to close out the Dallas Stars on Thursday for a series sweep, but there’s little doubt they’ll advance at some point to meet the Florida Panthers in the Stanley Cup Final.

And while Florida has been on an incredible run this postseason, Vegas has been the superior team all season. Jump on these plus odds while you still can.

Jimmy Butler is still the favorite, because Miami is a single win away from putting the nail in Boston’s coffin and gets to head home for Game 6 on Saturday. However, oddsmakers favor the Celtics to win that game, which would send this series back to Boston for a historic Game 7.

In the event, Boston completes the 3-0 comeback, Tatum would be the easy MVP choice, and his +120 odds to win the award give you slightly more value than Boston’s +115 series odds.

Shane McClanahan just continues to mow down batters and is now tied with Gerrit Cole for best odds to win the Cy Young — and Cole is trending down. There’s still plenty of season left, but it’s probably time to start sprinkling a little something on the player who has topped my first two Cy Young ladders of the season.
