Jay Leno helped out his former intern David who cared for him after his garage fire last November on Monday's episode of Celebrity IOU.

The 73-year-old comedian enlisted the help of Drew and Jonathan Scott, 45, after meeting them at his garage stuffed with vintage cars and motorcycles.

Jay revealed that he met David when he was a teenager through his father who restored fire engines and he became his intern 14 years ago before becoming a director-producer.

The former talk show host shared that David has become like a son to him and was there for him when he suffered severe burns to his neck and face from the November garage fire.

'When I had my accident, you know, I set myself on fire there, [David] would pick my wife up and bring her to the hospital and bring food and do things like that. I think that's what friendship is. I don't have a son, but I think this is what it would be like,' Leno said.

Jay asked the twins to help renovate the bathroom and nursery for David who was about to have a baby with his wife Margaret.

They planned to add stylish built-in closets at Jay's suggestion for the nursery and a new entrance for the bathroom so guests wouldn't have to enter through the bedroom.

They had a four-week deadline for the project and Jay volunteered to help out while David was away from home to allow for some plumbing repairs before they brought the baby back.

Jay helped with demolition even thought he was recovering from a recent motorcycle accident in which he broke his collarbone and ribs.

He helped remove tile and cracked jokes as the twins did the heavy work.

Jay later helped choose peel-and-stick wallpaper for the baby's room.

'Nothing makes a more perfect statement for a nursery than having a beautiful wallpaper or mural,' Jonathan said.

Jay held up a sampler decorated with red and blue cars and gave his approval.

'Now, if it was my room and my kid, I would have the car one,' Jay said.

Jay quipped that another print with gray clouds was 'a nightmare' before he finally settled on a jungle-themed print.

The twins showed Jay how to install the peel-and-stick sample.

'Look at that! Isn't that amazing. Sticks to any surface!,' Jay said in infomercial style.

The upgrade also included new insulation in the attic and windows with improved energy efficiency.

Jonathan picked up a stuffed giraffe as the final touch for the baby room.

Jay was amazed when the brothers were able to complete the project in just four weeks.

'You guys are amazing. Just a wonderful job,' Jay gushed at the new look of the home.

Jay welcomed David back to his house and revealed that he got more than his plumbing fixed as he introduced Jonathan and Drew.

'Both my wife and I watch The Property Brothers on TV. And then to see them come through our front door, that was a really pretty unique, uh, experience,' David said after meeting the brothers.

David was shocked at the renovations and touched by Jay's kindness.

'I think Jay and the brothers struck the right balance between modern and preserving the character of the house,' David said.

Margaret also was stunned as she checked out the nursery while holding their newborn son.

'Oh, my gosh. Oh, my gosh, it's beautiful,' she said.

David revealed that they named their baby boy William James Swift with the middle name in honor of Jay, real name James Douglas Muir Leno.

'That was the greatest gift he could ever give, eh? I don't have any children. So, that was really something special,' Jay said. 'It came out of left field.'

'Well, we hope that he will emulate your kindness and generosity,' David said.

The new crib was a hit with the baby who was fast asleep as the episode came to an end.
