MILAN, ITALY – Former Syracuse forward Tajon Buchanan and Football Club Internazionale Milano (Inter Milan) won the club's 20th Serie A League Title on April 22.

Inter won the Scudetto, the Serie A Championship title, after defeating city rival AC Milan, 2-1. The club earned a second star to its logo, an honor awarded for every 10 Serie A titles. Inter is 27-1-5 overall, capturing the title with five games remaining in the season.

"Congratulations to Tajon and Internazionale Milano on earning the club's 20th Scudetto and second star," Syracuse head coach Ian McIntyre said. "From making his Inter debut to being part of the club's league title, it's been unbelievable to follow Tajon's soccer journey and see him grow into the player he has become. Everyone within our Syracuse program is so happy for a very special young man."

Buchanan has appeared in five matches since joining Inter on Jan. 5. The Brampton, Ontario, native became the first Canadian to appear in Serie A history when he made his debut on Feb. 16 at Salernitana.

Buchanan joined Inter following a stint with Club Brugge in the Belgian First Division A League. With Club Brugge, the forward appeared in 52 matches, making 45 starts, while scoring three goals and registering seven assists. Prior to Club Brugge, Buchanan began his professional career with the New England Revolution. The forward was selected with the ninth overall selection in the 2019 Major League Soccer SuperDraft after signing a Generation adidas contract. Buchanan played parts of three seasons with New England (2019-21), totaling 60 matches and 34 starts. During the 2021 campaign, the Canadian product scored eight goals and tallied 21 points in 27 contests, earning a nomination to the 2021 MLS All-Star Game and member of the 2021 MLS Best XI.

In two seasons at Syracuse, he scored 12 goals and recorded 30 points across 33 matches. As a freshman in 2017, the forward was named to the All-ACC Third Team and ACC All-Freshman Team. Buchanan had a breakout season as a sophomore, posting eight goals and 20 points en route to All-ACC First Team, All-ECAC First Team and United Soccer Coaches All-South Region Second Team honors.

Internationally, Buchanan has played for Team Canada since 2021, including the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar with former Syracuse teammate and current Portland Timbers defender Kamal Miller. Buchanan assisted on Alphonso Davies' goal, giving Canada its first goal in FIFA World Cup history.
