World Juniors Scores On Day 4 Of WJC 2024 Group Play In Sweden ...
Day 4 of the IIHF World Junior Championships on Dec. 29 in Sweden was highlighted by an overtime shootout between USA and Czechia. Later in the day, Canada was upset by host nation Sweden in a low-scoring affair.
Goaltender Jacob Folwer and forward Isaac Howard played the heroes in a big win for the Americans.
World Junior Overtime rules dictate that, while in group play, a five-minute overtime period of 3-on-3 will be played. If at the end of the overtime period the game is still tied, the teams will enter a shootout.
It took seven rounds in the shootout before Team USA clinched the win on a goal by Isaac Howard. Overall, the Americans scored two goals in the shootout to Czechia's one goal.

Earlier in Day 4, Slovakia beat Norway by a score of 8-4. The Slovakians look strong, and remain undefeated through three games in group play. Finland also beat Latvia 4-0.

Jimmy Snuggerud scored a first-period hat trick for Team USA, while Gavin Brindley contributed 2 goals in an assist.
USA Hockey and Canada Hockey are considered the favorites at the WJC, but host Sweden could have a shot, according to Chris Peters.
The World Juniors is the top junior hockey event in the world and features some of the most prominent 2024 NHL Draft Prospects, including Macklin Celebrini of Canada, who currently sits second in scoring, with a game to be played on Day 4.
