U.S. Looks For Third Straight Win Today in World Juniors

The U.S. and Czechia meet for the 27th time, with Team USA holding a 14-2-1-8-1 (W-OTW-OTL-L-T) advantage all-time. The last meeting between the two teams was in the quarterfinals of the 2022 event, with Czechia earning a 4-2 victory. The U.S. has won seven of the last eight games between the two teams.

Team USA earned an 11-3 victory yesterday against Switzerland, with 14 different players contributing points, including three goals from Jimmy Snuggerud. The U.S. also got four assists from Frank Nazar, two goals and an assist from Gavin Brindley, and three assists from Cutter Gauthier. Jacob Fowler, who plays for top-ranked Boston College, picked up his first IIHF victory in net, with 21 saves.

Czechia is 1-1 through two games after opening the tournament on Tuesday (Dec. 26) with a 6-2 loss to Slovakia and rebounding the next day with an 8-1 victory over Norway.

Brindley (4-1—5), Snuggerud (4-1—5) and Nazar (0-5—5) enter play today tied for second in the tournament in points, one off the lead. Including its pre-tournament games against Sweden and Canada, Team USA is averaging 6.5 goals per outing.
