Get your sunblock out.
The city’s medical officer of health has issued a heat warning for Thursday.
Daytime high temperatures are expected to hover around 30 C Wednesday through to Friday, with overnight temperatures on Thursday forecasted to be in the high teens, offering little relief from the heat.
Things are expected to cool off on Saturday, with Environment Canada forecasting a high of 21 C as the weekend gets underway.
The city as well as participating community agencies will be offering cool down spaces for folks to find respite from the spicy temperatures. Those locations can be identified by a “Cool Down Here” sign on the entrance.
Open swims at all city-operated indoor pools will also be free to the public, according to a press release. Not interested in swimming? Spray pads across the city will operate from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Anyone experiencing signs of heat exhaustion — which include heavy sweating, weakness, cold, pale and clammy skin, weak pulse, fainting and vomiting — should seek help immediately and call 911 if needed, the city said.
Residents are advised to stay hydrated, dress for the heat, find air-conditioned spaces and take it easy when it comes to physical activity during the day.
