Joan Vassos is making Bachelor Nation history as the very first Golden Bachelorette. The 61-year-old school administrator starts her journey to find a second chance at love tonight. Find out what time The Golden Bachelorette premieres on ABC and how to tune into the inaugural season.

Vassos first appeared as a contestant on The Golden Bachelor, the initial version of the senior dating show featuring Gerry Turner. She left the show in week three due to a family emergency. During the "Women Tell All" episode in November 2023, Vassos explained that she had to rush to support her daughter, who was struggling with postpartum depression after the birth of her baby.

The Rockville, Maryland native was married to her husband, John, for 32 years before he passed away from pancreatic cancer in January 2021. "He was the husband that always made me feel safe and cherished," she wrote on Instagram three years after his death.

Now, Vassos is on a new quest for love as the lead in ABC’s first The Golden Bachelorette. In a July interview with People, she shared the qualities she seeks in a suitor. "I’m very picky about a man being a gentleman. I’m looking for someone with a big heart, who is generous and also humble,” she said.

In August, ABC revealed the 24 men competing for Joan’s heart. The contestants, aged 57 to 69, include a diverse group such as Kelsey Anderson’s dad, Tina Turner’s godson, an emergency room doctor, an NYPD fire department chief, a rancher, a chiropractor, and more. The Golden Bachelorette premieres with a two-hour episode on September 18, 2024, at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.

The Golden Bachelorette will air every Wednesday at 8 p.m. ET on ABC. You can stream ABC online at ABC.com with a cable provider log-in. Those without cable can watch ABC on live TV streaming services like Hulu+ Live TV, DirecTV Stream, fuboTV, and SlingTV, all of which offer free trials.

New episodes of The Golden Bachelorette will air weekly on Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET on ABC, with episodes available to stream on Hulu the following day (Thursdays).

ABC has not yet announced the full schedule for The Golden Bachelorette. Last year’s The Golden Bachelor featured nine episodes and a wedding special that aired over a month after the finale. The Golden Bachelorette, a spin-off of the popular Bachelor franchise, follows a similar format but focuses on an older demographic. The show centers on a single senior woman seeking love among a group of men around age 60 and above.

ABC's first spin-off, The Golden Bachelor, premiered on September 28 and starred 72-year-old Gerry Turner, a retired restaurateur and widower from Hudson, Indiana. The Golden Bachelorette is expected to follow a similar structure, including a first impression rose in the debut episode, one-on-one and group dates, hometown visits, and more.

At the end of each episode, the Golden Bachelorette will hand out roses to the men she wishes to continue dating, while those who don’t receive a rose will be eliminated from the show.
