Initial reactions and observations

Germany never looked uncomfortable in this game. They dealt with everything that came at them with relative ease. It wasn’t a spectacular win, but it was a solid performance, especially with a B-squad. Niclas Füllkrug is, without a doubt, Germany’s best striker at the moment. Bayern Munich should seriously look into signing him, he could complement Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting quite well. Germany’s best striker should play for Germany’s best club. Get to work, Brazzo. Speaking of Bayern, the representative trio was quietly efficient. Joshua Kimmich and Leon Goretzka were their usual hardworking selves, and didn’t do anything wrong. Serge Gnabry got into some good places, and could have had one heck of a goal if it weren’t for the crossbar. Germany’s finishing issues still could use some work, but everything takes time. Having a true striker helps immensely. Peru played a very dirty game, throwing their bodies into German legs and having the nerve to complain when they were rightfully whistled (not that it happened that often, the ref was a tad lenient). Colombia did the same to South Korea yesterday, is dirty play a thing with average South American teams? Overall, good effort and good win from Germany. Hopefully they keep this up.
