Environment Canada has issued a freezing rain warning for Hamilton, Brantford and Norfolk County.
The national weather agency says it is expected to last throughout the morning.
The warning for Hamilton notes it will impact people on the Mountain more than lower city residents.
In Brantford and Norfolk, the warning notes the freezing rain could result in "several millimetres" of ice build-up "especially on elevated surfaces."
The agency says highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery, so drivers should be careful while commuting.
The temperature is expected to increase around noon and end the freezing rain.
The expected high in Hamilton today is 5 C and people can expect between 10 to 15 millimetres of rain.
