DETROIT –- Lucas Raymond scored a power-play goal at 3:35 of overtime and the Detroit Red Wings defeated the Calgary Flames 2-1 at Little Caesars Arena on Wednesday night.
Raymond extended his goal-scoring streak to four games with his sixth goal of the season. He retrieved a loose puck after Alex DeBrincat shot wide, skated into the high slot and beat Dan Vladar with a wrist shot.
“Obviously it felt good,” Raymond said. “We were leading for almost 50 minutes, so it was tough to give up a late one, but we had a nice bounce back.”

DeBrincat also scored for Detroit (10-10-2), which has won three of four.
“We’re playing with good structure and high compete and we’re getting rewarded for it,” Red Wings coach Derek Lalonde said. “It will be a challenge to keep this going.”
Cam Talbot made 24 saves.
“We knew coming into the game that Calgary is a very aggressive team that forechecks hard,” Talbot said. “I thought, if anything, we kind of took it to them for most of the game.”
Connor Zary scored and Vladar had 25 saves for Calgary (12-7-4), which has lost two straight after a four-game winning streak.
“It was a hard game both ways – it was a typical game for us,” Calgary coach Ryan Huska said. “I’m happy with the way the guys stuck with it.”
Talbot (17) and Vladar (20) stopped all 37 shots taken at 5-on-5.
“I think that’s how the game was – there wasn’t a lot of room on the ice for either team,” Huska said. “Their power play scored twice for them and that was the difference in the game, but I’m not at all disappointed with our effort.”
CGY@DET: DeBrincat rips in PPG for opening goal
DeBrincat opened the scoring with a power-play goal at 6:33 of the first period, knocking Michael Rasmussen’s cross-slot pass into the empty side of the net. Raymond’s assist extended his points streak to five games (four goals, two assists).
Dylan Larkin was given a minor penalty at 15:20 for a face-off violation and Zary scored off a pass from MacKenzie Weegar at 17:12 to tie the game 1-1. Calgary has scored at least one power-play goal in five straight games.
“Anytime you score, it feels good, but especially in that situation,” Zary said. “If I keep playing how I’m playing and keep plugging away, the chances will fall for me.”
CGY@DET: Zary nets PPG for equalizer
The Flames were called for too many men on the ice at 3:06 of overtime, setting up the winning goal.
“That’s a tough way to end the game – you never want to lose in overtime, and you never want to end up on the kill,” Zary said. “Obviously, the bright spot is getting one point, but all of us want to win games.”
NOTES: The Red Wings have played three games this month where neither team scored at 5-on-5. They defeated the Buffalo Sabres 2-1 on Nov. 2 and lost 3-1 to the Toronto Maple Leafs on Nov. 8. … Yegor Sharangovich had his goal streak ended at three games, but extended his point streak to four with an assist on Zary’s goal.
