Looks like the Meta company is having some issues with connectivity today (Dec. 11).

According to reports on downdetector.ca, users are reporting outages on Facebook, Facebook Messenger, Threads, Instagram and WhatsApp platforms, starting around 1 p.m.

It's impacting thousands of users, with some taking to the X platform to share memes and checking to see if they aren't alone in experiencing difficulties.

Users logging into Facebook Dec. 11 were noticing a problem with the app.

“In Ottawa, website is down but mobile app works,” Laura Paquet wrote on downdetector.ca's Facebook tracker.

“I can't post anything in groups and people can't respond or comment on my posts so something definitely wrong, Ontario Canada,” wrote Laura Nunya on the Facebook tracker.

For members experiencing the outage and unable to log into Facebook, the company did include a note to the login page, saying the site was down for maintenance.

Meta platforms, including Facebook, were having connectivity issues on Wednesday, Dec. 11 in parts of Canada.

The company did not share the cause of the outage, or how widespread it's believed to be.

Metroland Media reached out to Meta about the issue, with a company spokesperson reiterating the comments from the X social post. 

Questions about how many users were impacted, or how long the outage is expected to last, were not yet answered.
