PRINCE GEORGE — Unpack those parkas, because an extreme cold warning has been issued for Prince George.
Environment Canada says when combined with the windchill, Prince George could see temperatures drop to minus 40 to minus 45 the next few days.
The national forecaster says temperatures should begin to moderate by Saturday morning with the extreme weather being blamed on the arrival of an Arctic airmass.
“Extreme cold puts everyone at risk. Risks are greater for young children, older adults, people with chronic illnesses, people working or exercising outdoors, and those without proper shelter. Watch for cold related symptoms: shortness of breath, chest pain, muscle pain and weakness, numbness and colour change in fingers and toes,” says Environment Canada.
