UFC Edmonton live blog: Erin Blanchfield vs. Rose Namajunas

This is the UFC Edmonton live blog for Erin Blanchfield vs. Rose Namajunas, the co-main event fight this Saturday in Edmonton, Canada.

Pegged by many to be a future champion at 125 pounds, Blanchfield’s stock took a hit earlier this year when she was dominated by Manon Fiorot at UFC Atlantic City. Still only 25 years old, Blanchfield now has a chance to rebound with a win over one of the most popular fighters in the UFC.

Namajunas, a two-time strawweight champion, had a Hall of Fame career at 115 pounds but after losing the title to Carla Esparza, “Thug Rose” decided to try her hand up at flyweight. After a tough debut, losing a decision to Fiorot, Namajunas has won two in a row to put herself in the thick of the title mix at 125 pounds if she can beat Blanchfield on Saturday.
