WASHINGTON (TND) — Elon Musk deleted a post on social media platform X Monday morning after asking why former President Donald Trump has faced two suspected assassination attempts while President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris have been overlooked.
"And no one is even trying to assassinate Biden/Kamala," Musk wrote in the now-deleted post, according to CNN.
Musk refused to take the post down at first even after receiving continuous criticism Sunday night with one comment saying, "I can think of about a hundred different ways you could've phrased your point more precisely. Freedom of speech doesn't excuse carelessness in articulation. As a public company CEO, your words matter."
"No one has even tried to do so is the point I’m making and no one will," the Tesla CEO responded before eventually taking down the post and writing, "Turns out that jokes are WAY less funny if people don’t know the context and the delivery is plain text."
The White House also called out Musk's "irresponsible" comments.
As President Biden and Vice President Harris said after yesterday’s disturbing news, 'there is no place for political violence or for any violence ever in our country,' and 'we all must do our part to ensure that this incident does not lead to more violence,'" White House spokesperson Andrew Bates said in a statement. "Violence should only be condemned, never encouraged or joked about. The terms of service on X state "There is no place on X for violent and hateful entities" but it is unclear if he violated those terms.
Last week, Muskmade an apparent sarcastic remark to Taylor Swift after she endorsedVice President Kamala Harris for president.
Swift announced her support for Harris Tuesday night in an Instagram post of her with a cat, knocking Sen. JD Vance, R-Ohio, by identifying herself as a “Childless Cat Lady" in her caption.
“Fine Taylor ... you win ... I will give you a child and guard your cats with my life,” Musk, who has endorsed former President Trump, said.
