Final results of the B.C. election to come Monday

The slimmest of margins are still at play as Elections BC promises the final results of the provincial vote will be released Monday.

The results of two recounts came in late Sunday, and mail-in and assisted telephone phone votes were counted in other undecided ridings over the weekend. But while tallies shifted, it was not enough to change results.

The BC Conservatives lost a handful of votes in the Kelowna Centre recount but are still 62 votes over the BC NDP — down from 72.

In Surrey City Centre, the NDP strengthened their lead, now 190 votes over the Conservatives.

The recount for the Juan de Fuca-Malahat electoral district is complete and the district has moved on to counting their remaining absentee ballots.

All remaining undecided races should be resolved today, as Elections BC says it is going through about 22,000 absentee and special ballots.

The closest riding is Surrey-Guildford, where the BC Conservatives were leading until around 12 p.m., when the NDP took the lead. As of 4 p.m., the NDP is ahead by 18 votes.

The standings have now changed since the Oct. 19 vote that saw the New Democrats leading or elected in 46 ridings, the BC Conservatives leading or elected in 45 ridings, and the Greens with two elected MLAs.

The latest tallies from Elections B.C. say the BC NDP is leading in 47 electoral districts.

To win a majority government, a party needs to hold 47 seats in the B.C. Legislature.

Elections BC says it will provide updates on the final counts throughout the day.
