Eddie Murphy Says 'Shrek 5' and 'Donkey' Spinoff in Works

No studio these days leaves good IP on the table, and if the constant re-memeification of Shrek is any sign, then Shrek is good, green IP. Eddie Murphy revealed in an interview with Collider on June 24 that DreamWorks is well aware of what it’s got, and that means at least two new movies are on the way. Murphy said that he’s currently partway through recording the voices for Shrek 5, a process that began “months ago.” Murphy says the project is slated for 2025. But that’s not all, because Murphy is also going to voice Donkey in a Donkey spinoff film, which has not yet begun recording. If we had our way, that movie would probably just be Donkey and Dragon hosting a dinner party Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf style. Maybe with Gingy and Pinocchio as the younger couple? Just Shrek-balling here.
