Dwayne Johnson is known for being passionate about his work, whether it’s taking down his opponent in the WWE ring or portraying a character on the screen. While he has worked with the same passion on many of his projects, the 2022 film featuring the DC antihero has been pretty special to him, as he has spent over a decade working on the movie.

The wrestler-turned-actor wanted to make sure that the film is loved and appreciated and to make sure that happens, he even brought back the fan-favorite Henry Cavill as Superman. One such thing also included filming the smooth flying scenes in the movie that required Johnson to hang from a 12,000-pound robot arm.

Behind Dwayne Johnson’s Flying Sequences in Black Adam

Dwayne Johnson spent years planning and working on his DC debut as Black Adam with the 2022 feature. However, considering the time and effort it took, Black Adam was not able to make a big impact on either DC Universe or at the box office.

But, it still doesn’t negate the fact that the actor and makers worked hard to put in several details in the movie, including the antihero’s flying scenes. According to the producer of the DC film Hiram Gracia, they chose to keep the antihero mostly floating in the air.

Further explaining, she said it helped to “lean a little bit more into his superiority complex of basically being a God.” And the filmmakers used a new technique to capture those smooth flying sequences. Instead of using cables, the special effects team came up with motorized carts to film the character’s movements in the air.

Powered by an electric motor, these carts were used to film different types of flying sequences. In order to film his flat-flying scenes, the Jumanji star was hooked into a 12,000-pound robotic arm that helped for filming the flying scenes as smoothly as possible.

Script For a Black Adam Sequel Was Allegedly Completed

Followed by the release of Black Adam, the film producer Robert Meyer Burnett shared that there had been significant progress for a sequel. And reports even claimed that the script for the sequel was also completed, and its filming was expected to start in early 2023.

There were also plans to bring back Henry Cavill in the possible DC projects. However, it is still not confirmed if he would have returned in a Man of Steel or Black Adam sequel. However, all his efforts went to waste after James Gunn and Peter Safran took over as co-CEOs of the DC Studios.

And it seems unlikely for the Jungle Cruise star to return as Black Adam anytime soon under the new leadership of the studio. The duo has scrapped Johnson’s plans and is working to build a new DCU, starting with Gunn’s upcoming movie Superman: Legacy under the first chapter of the DCU, Gods & Monsters.
