NEWS RELEASE
If you’re a fan of Dolly Parton, then you won’t want to miss the upcoming concert, Rhinestone Cowgirl: Celebrating Dolly Parton. Taking place at the Midland Cultural Centre on Saturday, June 24 at 7:30 p.m., this event will pay homage to one of the most iconic singer/songwriters in music history. Led by Bruce Ley, a composer of the Academy Award nominated film The Painted Door, an all-star Canadian band of award-winning musicians will capture the magic of Parton’s live performances in this two-hour extravaganza.
The real highlight of the concert, however, is the incredible vocals of Leisa Way. Way will take the audience through over 30 of Dolly Parton’s greatest hits, including chart-topping songs like “9 to 5,” “I Will Always Love You,” “Jolene,” and many more. Parton, who has enjoyed a successful career and is considered one of the biggest crossover artists of all time, will have her well-known hits showcased in this concert.
The band includes talented musicians such as fiddler/multi-instrumentalist Nathan Smith, arranger and pianist/guitarist Bruce Ley, lead singer Fred Smith, bassist/lead singer Bobby Prochaska, and drummer Don Reid. Each member brings their own unique skills and experience to create an unforgettable performance.
Leisa Way herself was discovered by Don Harron of Hee-Haw fame when he hand-picked her to star as Anne of Green Gables. Growing up in northern Ontario, Way shares a connection with Parton, as they both come from large families. Way has since created 13 theatrical concerts, including Early Morning Rain: The Legend Gordon Lightfoot and Across the Pond.
