UBC's growing retail and culture scene is about to expand with the addition of an exciting new restaurant concept.
Wildlight Kitchen + Bar is set to open in February at the University Boulevard development lelษmฬ and is the first restaurant for B.C.-based Pattison Food Group (as in Jim Pattison and Save-On Foods).
In the kitchen will be local chef Warren Chow, who is best known for his time at The Pear Tree and Juniper, as well as Bacchus, where he was just ahead of the pandemic. Since then, Chow has been working with a private chef business, but now returns to the restaurant world.
Chow is behind Wildlight's menu showcasing sustainable regional and seasonal ingredients, including some that will be sourced as locally as the UBC Farm.
โThere is something so special about the freshness of the air, the quality of the light, and the rugged abundance here on the West Coast,โ said Chow in a media release. โWildlight is about harmoniously bringing together the land, sea and sky, and showcasing natureโs bounty.โ
On the all-day menu at the West Point Grey restaurant will be dishes like a seafood charcuterie board, a loaded dry-aged and grass-fed beef burger, as well as mains centered on local seafood, steak, duck, and chicken.
Diners can expect to find a beverage program at Wildlight that features creatively crafted libations with ingredients from local producers, as well as an extensive selection of the best of B.C. wines, available by the glass or bottle. The restaurant will also boast daily and late-night happy hours as well as weekend brunch.
Wildlight Kitchen + Bar is located at 107-5380 University Blvd and will be open Monday to Friday, 11 a.m. โ 11 p.m.; Saturday & Sunday, 9 a.m. โ 11 p.m.
