The Cruel Intentions Sorority House Is a Real, Sprawling Estate in ...
Unlike the New York City-based 1999 film Cruel Intentions, the new TV adaptation of the same name is set on a college campus in the Washington D.C. area. While the series trades in an elite Manhattan playground for prestigious university life, it nevertheless showcases a handful of remarkable homes and locations, just as the popular movie did before it. But filming for the Prime Video series didn't actually take place where it's set; the production tapped Toronto for its rich backdrops. The Canadian city provided everything from a more than 26,000-square-foot estate to a Tudor Revival-style mansion—and we dug up every detail we could about the luxurious locations.

It’s no surprise that a palatial estate spanning 26,765 square feet was tapped to represent the fictional Delta Phi Pi mansion’s exteriors. Situated on two acres, the Toronto property is marked by a grand gated entrance. The facade with large columns, arched windows, double balconies, and climbing greenery only captures a sliver of the residence’s extravagance.
Caroline’s bedroom in her sorority house is fit for royalty.
Similar to the on-screen sets, the real-life mansion boasts millwork and crown moldings that create a timeless feel throughout. Photos from when it was listed for $18.2 million in 2016 show other similar features including a wrought iron railing on a split staircase in the the entryway and a bedroom with powder blue walls like those in the quarters of Queen Bee Caroline Merteuil (this production's version of the character played by Sarah Michelle Geller).
Caroline’s bedroom features sizable built-ins for her closet and vanity, which are on the same wall as a charming mantel and seating area.
The home also includes a commercial grade catering kitchen, movie theater, wine cellar, indoor pool, manicured gardens with majestic fountains, and an outdoor tennis court.

A big Tudor Revival-style house with a striking fountain in the front yard stands in for the fictional Alpha Gamma Zeta fraternity house. According to the Architectural Conservancy Ontario, the home is located in the Bridle Path, one of Canada’s most affluent residential neighborhoods, in which some mansions are currently going for more than $20 million.

All of the characters attend the fictional Manchester College, so when they’re not sequestered in the Greek life oases where they spend most of their time, they're walking across campus, sitting in class, working in the library, and so on. Most of the exterior scenes at the school were shot at the University of Toronto.
Caroline and Lucien’s Parents’ HouseWhile only a few scenes take place at the home of Caroline and Lucien Belmont’s parents (reminder: the two main characters are step siblings), it certainly makes a statement. The exterior is portrayed by a modern four-bedroom property in the Toronto suburb of Edenbridge-Humber Valley. According to Toronto Life, the residence, built by Altius Architecture Inc., was listed for nearly $6.5 million (CAD) in 2013. As far as covetable features go, big windows throughout the house let in natural light and frame the scenic views. Plus, there’s a swimming pool, an outdoor kitchen, a fire pit, and a sizable lawn. Oh, and it backs up to a historic golf course.

One other home worth noting is the home of a new character named Scott’s parents. It’s shown only briefly in the series, but it's grand nonetheless. The mixed stone, siding, and shingle-style exterior have a decidedly Hamptons-like feel. In reality, the exterior seems to be a home in Vancouver, according to a stock footage listing of the two-story building on Shutterstock.
