A new Costco location opened today (Nov. 8) in Brantford, and there's an added highlight: a sushi bar.

It's the first Ontario location with a sushi bar, with a Costco spokesperson confirming the only other location with a sushi bar is in Vancouver, B.C.

Located at 175 Roy Blvd., near Lynden Park Mall, the warehouse spans 150,000 square feet.

Word is, along with prepackaged sushi selections, the food court will also be serving a California eight-piece crab roll, made with Pacific blue crab, Japanese sushi rice, avocado and cucumber. Served with wasabi, soy sauce, ginger and chop sticks.

“Congratulations Costco Brantford on your Spectacular Grand Opening,” Brantford Coun. Michael Sullivan said in a Facebook post.

The ribbon cutting took place at 6:30 a.m., with people lining up as early as 1:30 a.m. to be the first through the doors, he added.

“I’m very proud to be part of this event, as Costco Brantford is the only Costco that is serving chef-plated sushi east of Vancouver,” Sullivan said. “Furthermore, our Costco also has build-your-own sausage and burgers.”

According to Vancouver-based Sophia Siyao Hu, an Instagram content creator, the sushi she tried in Vancouver was good.

“As with everything at Costco, the portion size and value was incredible,” she said in a social post.

It's not known if the same selection of sushi will be available at the Brantford location.

And TikTok content creator Laura Ullock shared a video from the Vancouver store, where she purchased the eight-piece California crab roll at the food court for $9.99.
