New Costco location with sushi department opens in Brantford
A new Costco location opened their doors Friday morning in Brantford, which is hosting the province’s first sushi department.
Found right off Wayne Gretzky Parkway, next to Lynden Park Mall, the business says it has over 800 parking spots, a range of alcoholic beverages for sale, an optical centre, a variety of specialty departments and 24 gas pumps.
A ribbon cutting ceremony was held at 6:30 a.m. with many people waiting in line to shop and celebrate the opening.
MP Larry Brock, MPP Will Bouma, Brantford Mayor Kevin Davis, Chief Sherri-Lyn Hill from Six Nations of the Grand River and chief Sault from the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation were in attendance for the ribbon cutting ceremony.
The Brantford wholesale location joins the other four local Costco stores in Burlington, Ancaster, Stoney Creek and Niagara Falls with an additional business center in St. Catharines.
The new warehouse is also the 41st location to open in Ontario.
A media release provided by Costco reads the location has created over 180 permanent jobs and 80 seasonal jobs.
