Connor Bedard has played 82 games over the past two seasons, despite missing a full month due to a broken jaw in the middle of his rookie season. Bedard has recorded 73 points in those games, and scoring nearly a point per game at his age is extremely impressive—especially on a team like the Blackhawks, who are far from being playoff contenders at the moment.

In fact, the Blackhawks haven’t won three games in a row since Bedard joined the team, a feat they could have achieved on Wednesday with a win over the Detroit Red Wings.

However, the Blackhawks couldn’t beat Detroit, losing 4-1. Connor Bedard finished the game without a point, and so far, the 19-year-old sensation has 12 points in 14 games in his sophomore season. Bedard has struggled to find the net, with only three goals in those 14 games.

But although he didn’t make it onto the scoresheet on Wednesday, he had a moment with Moritz Seider that went viral on social media.

Bedard had possession of the puck along the boards and tried to pass it behind Detroit’s net. As he followed through with his stick after making the pass, he accidentally high-sticked Red Wings defenseman Moritz Seider in the face.

Bedard immediately showed his concern by ignoring the play to check if his opponent was okay and to apologize. The video of Bedard’s apology went viral, with everyone finding it absolutely wholesome. It was a perfect example of Bedard’s class and sportsmanship.
