GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT) - We are officially in the time of year where when you think of Saturdays, think of college football.

The Colorado Mesa Mavericks Football Team are on a bye week after a comeback fourth quarter win against Texas A&M Kingsville. Their first home opponent of the year, Central Washington University just loss their first game to San Diego, who the Mavericks beat last season and went viral doing so.

Around the State Colorado State and Northern Colorado Faced off in what wound up being a 38-17 CSU win.

Air Force and Colorado both fell, Air Force’s offense stalled out in their Mountain West Conference opener losing 17-7.

Meanwhile Colorado was on the wrong side of a rivalry loss to Nebraska, losing a game that was not as close as the score would lead you to believe, with the Buffaloes offense struggling falling 28-10.

It wasn’t just football either CMU Volleyball finished the Oredigger Classic Tournament in Golden, 3-1 with impressive wins over a pair of ranked programs. On the soccer pitch the Mavericks Women’s Team remained unbeaten after a 1-0 shut out victory over Northwest Nazarene up north in Idaho.
