What's open and closed on the Civic Holiday in Windsor-Essex?

It's roughly the halfway point of the summer travel season, and in Ontario, many people will take a long weekend off.

Monday is the Civic Holiday in Ontario. So, all provincial and government offices will be closed, and many businesses will either follow suit or work on an abbreviated schedule.

All Service Ontario branches are closed Monday, though transactions like licence plate and health card renewals, may be performed online.

Most banks and credit unions will be closed.

The 311 call centre will be closed Monday, and open on Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The 311 service is also available online and through the mobile app.

The 211 call centre will operate 24 hours as usual.

Select LCBO outlets and Beer Store locations are open Monday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Be sure to check online for hours at your favourite location to avoid a wasted trip.

Devonshire Mall in Windsor is open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday. Tecumseh Mall in Windsor is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Windsor Crossing outlet mall in LaSalle is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

All Windsor Public Library branches will be closed Monday, but the website will be operational 24/7 as usual.

All Essex County Library branches are also closed for the Civic Holiday.

In the City of Windsor, residential garbage and yard waste collection will not take place on Monday, and be delayed by one day. Commercial trash and recycling collection will proceed as usual.

The public drop-off and chemical waste disposal facilities on Central Avenue are closed on Monday.

There is no parking enforcement in the City of Windsor on the Civic Holiday. Street-metered parking will be free, though garages and surface lots will be paid as usual. Traffic enforcement payment offices are closed, though payments can still be made online.

Transit Windsor buses are running on the Sunday and holiday schedule. The customer service office at the Chatham Street West terminal, as well as the sales office on North Service Road East, will be closed.

The Homelessness and Housing Help Hub (H4) at Windsor Water World will be open as usual from 8 a.m. to midnight.

All community centres and arenas in the City of Windsor are closed Monday, except for pre-scheduled or previously-booked rentals.

Sandpoint Beach in east Windsor will be open Monday, weather and water quality permitting. Lifeguards are on duty from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. All of the City's park-based splash pads will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Atkinson, Central, Lanspeary, Mic Mac, Remington Booster and Riverside Centennial outdoor pools will be open from 1:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. for recreational swimming.

The indoor pools at the Windsor International Aquatic and Training Centre, WFCU Centre, and Marcus Community Centre will be closed.

Adventure Bay Family Water Park will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday.

The Lakeview Park Marina's office and fuel dock will be open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., and the launch ramps will be open at 7 a.m.

The Chimczuk Museum and the Francois Baby House will be closed on Monday, their normal off days.
