Giant Mahjong tiles, food trucks, cultural tours, kids' theatre and more.

Historic Chinatown is hosting its 22nd annual Vancouver Chinatown Festival on July 13 and 14 on the neighbourhood's streets.

This free two-day community event will start with a grand opening ceremony that includes lion dancing, Japanese drumming, and orchestra playing.

Organized by the Vancouver Chinatown Business Improvement Area Society (VCBIA), the event will feature a variety of 23 talented local makers and food vendors at its artisans' market, featuring Japanese donuts from Mochido, candles from Ollie & Co, and dumplings from Jingle Bao.

Want more for your stomach? The event also has nearly a dozen local food trucks such as Kona Ice of Chilliwack, Munchu Picchu, Taco Tigre, and Slothfuls.

The festival also offers a walking tour by Bob Sung from A Wok Around for visitors to learn more about the area, Chinese painting and calligraphy, and other handicrafts such as paper lanterns and hand-fan making.

This year, the festival will have performances for the kids to enjoy. There will be dance shows, sing-along with fairytale characters, superhero training sessions, magic shows, and more.

Spend your day with your family in the area and learn more about the Chinese culture that has existed in Vancouver for over 100 years.
