What happened isn’t clear. Demko made several calm saves in the minutes leading up to his departure. He appeared to show some discomfort, but the cause isn’t clear.

The Canucks coaches who returned to the press box following the intermission put on an upbeat appearance, masking any concern they might be holding about Demko’s status.

Asked for an update on Demko’s status a team spokesperson said the goalie would not return to the game.

Post-game, Rick Tocchet didn’t have any real update either.

“I don’t think it’s too serious but I don’t know,” Tocchet said.

He later told Glacier Media’s Daniel Wagner he believed Demko’s injury had been just “a fluke thing.”

GM Patrik Allvin was on Hockey Night in Canada’s After Hours but said he also didn’t have any information on Demko’s status.
