Buffalo Bills elevate running back Frank Gore Jr. from practice squad
The Buffalo Bills announced that they have elevated running back Frank Gore Jr. from the practice squad ahead of their game against the New York Jets. The team announced the move around an hour before inactive players are to be declared.
Gore, 22, spent the entire offseason with Buffalo after signing with the club as an undrafted free agent last spring. He rushed 33 times for 163 yards and a score in the preseason, adding four receptions for sixteen yards on six targets during those exhibition games. In the preseason finale, Gore carried 18 times for 101 yards and a score against the Carolina Panthers. He was the Bills’ leading rusher during the preseason. Gore will make his NFL debut if he is active for the contest.
Whether Gore plays or not likely has to do with the status of Buffalo’s starting running back, third-year man James Cook. Cook suffered a toe injury during last week’s loss to the Houston Texans. He was unable to practice on Wednesday and Thursday, but he registered a limited practice on Friday to earn a “questionable” designation for the game tonight.
Check back at 6:45 when inactives are announced to see whether it’s Cook or Gore donning a game jersey for the Bills tonight at MetLife Stadium.
