An updating list of winners and results from the 2024 Boston Marathon

While most of the 30,000 athletes will simply be trying to complete the 26.2-mile journey, an elite group will be competing to win the 128th Boston Marathon.

Some of the top professional athletes in the world competed for the prestigious title of Boston Marathon winner. As with any year in Boston, there were surprises that helped to shape the outcome for the top athletes making their way from Hopkinton to Boylston Street. Sisay Lemma of Ethiopia won the men’s division, with Kenyan Hellen Obiri repeating as women’s champion.

Men’s wheelchair: Swiss racer Marcel Hug once again dominated the field to win his seventh Boston Marathon.

1. Marcel Hug: 1:15:33

2. Daniel Romanchuk: 1:20:37

3. David Weir: 1:22:12

Women’s wheelchair: Eden Rainbow-Cooper, a 22-year-old from Portsmouth, England took and early lead and managed to hold off Manuela Schär for her first win in Boston.

1. Eden Rainbow-Cooper: 1:35:11

2. Manuela Schär: 1:36:41

3. Madison De Rozario: 1:39:20

Men’s handcycle: Marine veteran Zachary Stinson emerged to win his third Boston Marathon title.

1. Zachary Stinson: 1:04:46

2. John Masson: 1:09:33

3. Dustin Baker: 1:10:10

Women’s handcycle: Vermont native Alicia Dana won in Boston for the third time in her career.

1. Alicia Dana: 1:15:20

2. Edie Perkins: 1:33:57

3. Devann Murphy: 1:43:23

Men’s race: Sisay Lemma of Ethiopia made a strong early move and held off the field for his first win in Boston.

1. Sisay Lemma: 2:06:17

2. Mohamed Esa: 2:06:58

3. Evans Chebet: 2:07:22

Women’s race: The women’s race became dramatic in the final miles as defending champion Hellen Obiri and fellow Kenyan Sharon Lokedi dueled. Obiri eventually made her move, pulling away for her second straight win.
