Democrats still 'optimistic' as 'Blue Wall' tally continues
As former President Donald Trump’s electoral vote count climbs past 230, the Kamala Harris campaign remains “optimistic” that a path to victory is still possible.
PBS News Hour’s Laura Barrón-López reported live from the Harris watch party at Howard University that campaign sources see a path to 270, with the vice president hoping to carry the “Blue Wall” states, including Wisconsin and Michigan.
“Nobody is feeling ‘ghosts of 2016,’” Barrón-López said. “I was texting with a Democratic House member in Nevada, they are extremely confident that Harris will win Nevada.”
Harris also picked up Nebraska’s 2nd district, which is worth one electoral vote. Barrón-López said that Nebraska vote, plus the Blue Wall and Nevada could equal victory.
Barrón-López said some of her campaign sources said they are beginning to feel “a little bit nervous” but are trying to project calm to campaign supporters.
(The campaign is) “reminding people here of what it was like in 2020, when at this point some of these states looked as if they were favoring Donald Trump and it wasn’t until Wednesday and beyond that things started to shift for Democrats,” Barrón-López said.
