Toronto Blue Jays at Milwaukee Brewers odds, picks and predictions

Blue Jays vs Brewers

The Toronto Blue Jays (32-33) take on the Milwaukee Brewers (38-27) Monday in the opener of a 3-game set at American Family Field at 8:10 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Blue Jays vs. Brewers odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: First meeting; Blue Jays won 2-1 last year

The Blue Jays took 2 of 3 in Oakland, concluding with a 6-4 win in 10 innings Sunday as -130 road favorites — the Over (8) hit. The Jays have underachieved offensively this season. Their 3.95 runs per game rank 25th in the league, according to Teamrankings.com. However, they’ve scored 6 or more runs in 3 of their last 4 games. 3B Isiah Kiner-Falefa is hitting .320 with just 1 extra-base hit but an astounding 9 RBIs over the last 7 days.

The Brewers went 2-4 on their recent road trip but took 2 of 3 in Detroit. They were blown out 10-2 Sunday as +148 underdogs but were able to get through the game without a ton of mileage on their bullpen. After 4 down seasons, and a myriad of back issues, LF Christian Yelich looks to be rounding back into All-Star form. He’s hitting .324 with 6 homers and 29 RBIs.

Blue Jays 5, Brewers 3

Moneyline

Berrios is the X-factor here. He has been solid with a 2.77 ERA (26 IP, 8 ER) over his last 4 starts. Outside of the 8-ER blowup he had in Milwaukee in ’22, he has been very reliable against the Brewers. In his previous start at American Family Field before that debacle, he tossed 6 no-hit innings with 12 K’s in a 2-0 victory for the Minnesota Twins.

The Jays’ bats are awakening, and Rea doesn’t have the pure stuff to keep them at bay.

TAKE BUE JAYS (+100) at even-money.

Run line/Against the spread

PASS since we’re already backing Toronto’s moneyline.

However, I love JOSE BERRIOS OVER 17.5 OUTS (-160). The price isn’t great, but he has went 6+ innings in 5 straight and 6 of 7 starts.

Over/Under

We’re projecting a push here, and it could go either way depending on what they do with the retractable roof. The forecast calls for 60 degrees with a light 5-mph breeze blowing left to right.

PASS.
