After experiencing discomfort in his left leg during a drill on Friday, Tiedemann was diagnosed with what manager John Schneider described as “inflamation between his hamstring and calf.”

For now, that leaves the promising 21-year-old, who had been slotted to start Saturday’s Grapefruit League opener here on Saturday, on day-to-day status.
“There’s no structural damage which is overall good news,” Schneider said. “The best case scenario is that he’s back throwing in a couple of days and we go from there. It’s actual day-to-day with him. We’ll see how he feels on Sunday and go from there.”
The Jays obviously have ambitious plans for Tiedemann, with many touting him as a candidate to be elevated to the big league roster at some point this season. They will obviously proceed with caution, however, to avoid a shutdown of any duration.
“We don’t expect it to be very crazy and basing it on how he feels,” Schneider said. “Hopefully it doesn’t put him too far behind.”
