Well, that’s a third draw in a row for Bayern Munich and it’s hard to say it’s not deserved. The defending remains a weak point but where are the goals from the attack? Things have gone so dry up top and the team’s xG has just plummeted. A strange game from Alphonso Davies — he seemed out of it from minute 1. Poor when passing and ineffective going forwards. Did someone over-water the Allianz Arena pitch? The players were slipping all over the place. Despite their role in Randal Kolo Muani’s equalizer, Josip Stanisic and Dayot Upamecano had a solid outing today. It wasn’t enough though. Bayern have not been doing enough. 80% of Frankfurt’s ball recoveries felt like fouls. The refereeing was appalling today.

Halftime observations and analysis Bayern Munich deserve the lead tonight, though it’s a little bit of a touch and go kind of thing. A few too many mistakes at the back, especially on passing and defending corners. Thomas Muller with an assist on his first start of the year. Let’s keep that going, shall we? Josip Stanisic offers so much more than Pavard going forward. This should cement his place in the XI until Mazraoui gets back. Jamal Musiala is having another relatively quiet night. The referee has been sus. What is with the Bundesliga this season?

Kickoff: We’re underway in Munich!

One hour until kickoff: We have lineups! Julian Nagelsmann surprises us all by choosing to field Bayern Munich in a 4-1-4-1 formation with BOTH Thomas Muller and Jamal Musiala in the starting XI (yay!). However Ryan Gravenberch inexplicably misses out on the XI despite being confirmed to start before the game — is there an injury we don’t know about? Kingsley Coman and Leroy Sane do start on the wings though, with Serge Gnabry missing out.

Starting a year with two draws (three if you count a friendly) is not ideal for any team. Unfortunately for Bayern Munich it’s enough to be called a crisis. Julian Nagelsmann needs a win ASAP to get his team back on track.

Changes are coming to the lineup. Ryan Gravenberch is set for his first Bundesliga start of the season, likely slotting in next to Joshua Kimmich in place of the injured Leon Goretzka. Meanwhile Kingsley Coman is set to start after his excellent impact performance vs Koln, probably at the expense of Mr. Fashion Week (aka Serge Gnabry). However we still have no solution to the Thomas Muller vs Jamal Musiala conundrum, and Eintracht have been in awfully good form this season. The team will have to adjust.
