Bayern Munich and Dortmund interested in Fenerbahçe's Ferdi ...

Turkish full-back Ferdi Kadıoğlu has drawn a lot of attention for his performances in a high-flying Fenerbahçe side this season. Bayern Munich fans who follow the men's German national team will be familiar with the player, as he netted Turkey’s opening goal in a match between the two teams in a recent friendly which led to a 3-2 loss for the Germans.

The January transfer window nearing, and both Bayern and rivals Borussia Dortmund have their scouts monitoring the player, according to reports from Florian Plettenberg and Sky Sports News (via @iMiaSanMia). If either team is serious about the Fenerbahçe man, a move for Kadıoğlu would put the buyers back 20 million euros, although he apparently doesn’t fit the exact profile Bayern are after.

The future of Canadian left-back Alphonso Davies has come under question recently, with reports about the player wanting a significant pay raise, and interest from Real Madrid surfacing. While Bayern already has Raphaël Guerreiro and Frans Krätzig able to play that position at the club, the Portuguese wing-back is often out injured, and Krätzig is yet to fully establish himself in the first team.

Kadıoğlu is an attacking fullback whose strengths lie in chance creation and ability on the ball, he is also a unique player in that he is incredibly versatile. In addition to being able to slot into Bayern’s contingent of left-backs, the Turkish international is fully comfortable operating further up the field or on the right side of the pitch as well and would provide additional depth in the right-back position. Currently, the only true right-back at the club is Noussair Mazraoui (the omission of Bouna Sarr is purposeful), and it’s well-known that Bayern are after a player who can play both right-back and center-back.

Is it possible that the profile that Kadıoğlu doesn’t fit into that Bayern is after is that of a player who provides depth at both right-back and center-back? Or has Bayern conceded that they’re likely to lose Alphonso Davies and are having trouble finding a suitable candidate? Be sure to let us know what you think about this rumor in the comments below!
