Barça 4-3 Inter Movistar: Defeat of the leader
Loads of action at the Palau Blaugrana as the futsal team produce their best performance of the season
Barça have beaten Inter Movistar 4-3 in futsal's equivalent of the Clásico, bringing an end to the leaders' unbeaten record.
In a brilliant game, less than a minute had passed when Catela headed the blaugrana into the lead and just three minutes later a spectacular Touré set up the goal that was ultimately tapped in by Álex Yepes. And the brilliant start continued when a lovely team move in the tenth minute ended with Antonio pouncing on a rebound and setting up Fits to finish it off.
But the wondrous mood in the Palau quickly changed when Cecilio scored twice in the same minute to suddenly throw the visitors back to within one goal. And we could have been all square at the break had Inter not missed a double penalty.
Happy endingThe second half was barely under way when Antonio powered in a shot to make it 4-2. Back in business, and had it not been for some top goalkeeping by Herrero the hosts could have been even further ahead.
Instead, Inter, now with a rush goalie, pulled one back through Chaguinha with nine minutes to go. The final minutes were a non-stop attack on the Barça goal, as Inter did all they could to sneak a leveller and Barça did likewise to prevent it from happening. Barça held on for their fifth win in a row and after a slow start to the competition, they are now up to third.
Next up is a very winnable trip to Ribera Navarra.
