Katie Taylor held onto her super lightweight championship with a disputed decision win against Amanda Serrano and a final winning score of 95-94 by all three judges in Arlington, Texas. This is Taylor’s second win against Serrano and makes her the remaining champion in the super lightweight division.

But fans add differing views on what transpired and took to MMA Fighting’s social media page to give their critiques.

“Katie lead with her head all night intentionally. That ref should have taken 2 points over the course of it. That cut made it look bad when the reality was Katie was losing. Boxing is rigged,” commented Steve Blunt on MMA Fighting.

“Serrano throws punches in volume, but half are blocked of grazed, Taylor landed the cleaner, more eye catching punches. They were not deliberate headbutts and scoring is based on rounds won not how many punches landed. It was a close fight and no Serrano was not robbed. It could have went either way. Personally I think Serrano shaded it, but to say she was robbed is ridiculous,” commented John Morrissey.

Despite the non-stop round of punches from Taylor, which resulted in a large gash above her eye, Serrano continued to fire back. After the fight, Serrano posted a note of congratulations to Taylor on her win, adding that she hopes for a trilogy in the future.

After the fight, Serrano posted a note of congratulations online to Taylor and fans.

“Congratulations to @KatieTaylor in her decision win. Tempers are flared when you’re in the heat of battle & you say things you shouldn’t say. I’m not one to ever disrespect an opponent & these were never my intentions to Katie,” stated Serrano on X (formerly Twitter).

“She & I are cool outside the ring and the best dance partners in the ring. In no way should I ever had said she did it purposely, it’s her style that makes for them I’m Not perfect and tho I try my hardest to be the nicest person I can be I’m human & being emotionally hurt can sometimes misguide you in what you say. I’m ok, I’m heathy a bit bruised and cut but still blessed beyond belief. We both came out with our health intact & that’s what I prayed for. Whenever our teams can agree on a Trilogy I’ll be ready. I hope you guys all enjoyed women’s boxing at its highest level.”

During press interviews following the fight, Katie Taylor said she “couldn’t care less” about the criticism around her win.
