Aaron Rodgers Netflix Documentary Release Date, Details ...
The story of Aaron Rodgers’ comeback from last season’s Week 1 Achilles tendon tear will be told in a three-part Netflix special this December, the streamer announced Monday.
Aaron Rodgers: Enigma, is produced by Religion of Sports, Skydance Sports and NFL Films. The show is also set to explore the four-time NFL MVP’s “life and career.” Gotham Chopra and Liam Hughes directed the project.
A clip released Monday showed Rodgers thinking through how he chooses who to target on any play. “I believe in the power of prayer and intention,” he also says while sitting on an airplane in the preview video.
The Dec. 17 release date will be just over a week before Netflix airs its first live NFL games, a pair of Christmas Day affairs. The streaming giant is also airing a boxing match between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson on Nov. 15 before beginning its run as the WWE Raw broadcaster on Jan. 6, 2025.
Off-field documentaries have become a staple of Netflix’s sports offering since the explosion of interest in Formula 1: Drive to Survive. This fall, the unscripted programming department is also putting out a five-episode series about the sport of polo, executive produced by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, as well as a three-part series on the 2004 Boston Red Sox team.
Netflix is also readying multiple scripted releases, including one produced by LeBron James about basketball players from a Native American reservation and a limited series about F1 driver Ayrton Senna.
Rodgers is set to make his return with the New York Jets on ESPN’s Monday Night Football against the San Francisco 49ers, his childhood team of choice.
