76ers Rumors: K.J. Martin Available at NBA Trade Deadline, 'Quality ...

Philadelphia 76ers forward K.J. Martin is reportedly available ahead of the Feb. 8 trade deadline, per NBA insider Marc Stein.

According to Stein, the 76ers are seeking a second-round pick in a trade for Martin.

"Philadelphia swingman K.J. Martin has been made available in advance of the trade deadline, league sources tell The Stein Line," Stein wrote. "Martin is well regarded in Philly but has inevitably struggled for playing time on a veteran-laden team. Word is that the 76ers are looking for a quality second-round pick in a potential deal."

Martin, who was drafted late in the second round by the Houston Rockets in 2020, has proved himself capable of being a valuable contributor when given minutes, but the situation in Philadelphia has limited him to just 5.9 minutes per game. His best season came in last year when he averaged 12.7 points and 5.5 rebounds for the Rockets.

Martin was traded to Philadelphia early this season from the Los Angeles Clippers as part of the deal that landed James Harden with the Clippers.

The 76ers, who sit in third place in the Eastern Conference at 28-13, are still looking to potentially add a piece before the trade deadline despite a successful start to the season. According to Action Network's Matt Moore, the 76ers have their sights set on landing a two-way player, which likely means they won't be in the mix for Chicago Bulls guard Zach LaVine. Moore also noted that veteran forward Tobias Harris could be in the mix for a trade as Philadelphia looks for depth at the point guard position.

As far as what they can get for Martin, the 76ers likely won't be landing a star or a backup point guard, but he could help them secure future picks, which have proven to be valuable in today's NBA landscape.
